A tribute and farewell for Leo Velandia…One of Sarah Merians Photography’s best…who shared his heart and soul and amazing talents for so many…

16 Dec 2020

I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Leo Velandia when he was 15 years old.  One of my photographers introduced him to me in the late 80’s as a lighting assistant.

Our Company grew and so did Leo and his energy, talent, and passion for photography.  Before I knew it, we had a rising star on our hands and Leo became one of our top photographers.

He loved his clients and capturing their “big day”.  There are so many lucky clients and people who had the pleasure to share in this energy, love, creative and artistic passion, and that sweet Leo smile.

So many people have commented on my Face Book and Instagram tributes for Leo as he was deeply loved and admired.  He was a leader and inspiration to so many wedding photographers.  So many have commented about feeling blessed to have worked with him and were always in awe of his magnificent lighting and attention to every detail.  He was a perfectionist and brought this intensity to his photos.

Leo created a huge following and so many clients grew with him through the years and always came back because Leo was simply “the best”.  He made his clients feel beautiful and sexy and they just loved him.  So many have shared their feelings of sadness for the loss of such a talent and sweet man.

He has a huge legacy in the Sarah Merians Photography family and the world will be a little less beautiful without him.  We will miss those beautiful images and the magic you brought to every moment you captured and cherish your memory and contributions to so many.

Love and prayers for your family and four beautiful children.

It has been an honor
