PANDEMIC WEDDINGS BRINGING FAMILIES TOGETHER ONE ZOOM AT A TIME – love is not cancelled!

A snowy day in December 2020 Molly and Avi tied the knot.  Sarah was honored to capture this small and intimate wedding on a roof top terrace in Manhattan.

It was Fall… six months into the pandemic when we received a wedding inquiry asking if we could shoot a micro, COVID-19 safe wedding for 50 guests at Midtown Loft and Terrace.  We were recommended by the incredible caterer, Jill of Above and Beyond Catering.  Of course, the answer was “yes” as Sarah had been shooting many micro and mini events since the pandemic began, wearing 2 masks, and staying socially distanced, healthy, and safe.

We were also hired for this pandemic safe wedding to shoot video, capture the wedding on zoom, as well as create a wedding montage piece to be shown at the reception.  The montage piece consisted of family and friends who could not be at the wedding wishing them well.  The montage was a surprise gift from the couple’s siblings and was a tremendous success!  Just look at the smiles on their faces in the photos while viewing at reception.

Sarah suggested doing an engagement shoot while the weather was still nice outside to get to know the couple better.  She met them in Washington Square park and wandered through to Washington Mews where it was more private and away from crowds.

Fast forward to December and the wedding day had arrived!  Sarah captured this micro wedding just like she would a 200-person wedding.  We love her attention to detail in the getting ready photos.  It was a winter wonderland, and the terrace was covered in snow and the Empire State Building was off in the distance also covered in a white cloud.  It was magical.

Privet Flowers created an incredible Chuppah and it was great to feel we were in a garden in the sky!  The flower girls and ring bearers even with their face masks on were still precious and added such a feel of family and generations to this celebration.  Everybody wore masks throughout most of the day including the Rabbis!  We have tried to share how this couple celebrated safely to help others follow in their footsteps.  Weddings must go on and #loveisntcancelled.

Enjoy viewing Sarah’s photography and how technology was added to this wedding to make it a huge success.  You will see placement of monitors in the room, how family and guests at the wedding could zoom with others, multi cameramen and cameras, and how we can help make weddings during the pandemic bring families together one zoom at a time.
